"The Friends of St Ann's Well Gardens" was set up in November 2007 to promote, enhance and conserve the well being of St Ann’s Well Gardens and to assist with the planning and delivery of the centenary celebrations in 2008.
Since then, we have put on several events, produced the first issue of our newsletter and regularly updated the website.
We have just received a grant from Brighton & Hove Council to assist with running costs and buy solar lighting for events in the park. We are working hard to raise money for major improvements to the Park with support from Brighton & Hove City Council, the Park Ranger service and the gardeners. The plan is to renovate the Scented garden to create a quiet and peaceful space for visitors of all abilities to enjoy. There will be new plantings of textured and scented flowers and shrubs, raised beds, re-painted railings and new signs. We also hope to create a Historical Trail with weatherproof signs of old photos and pictures; and to design & install new signs about the wildlife in the park, with nesting boxes and feeding stations for the birds. We are hoping to raise £10,000 and are asking for support from the Big Lottery, the Co-operative Community Fund and others.
